I remember going to a dance there, and The Four Seasons were playing live! They sang "Sherry Baby", and I felt they were singing to me! I was about 12 or 13, so it was a really big deal

I live in Deleware County with wife and kids who all love to visit Grandparents and Havery,s Lake. I remember all the great time I spent there in the 1960's at Hansons Park. Also all the Parties when I got older.

Great Site, And Good Luck, Thanks

I remember boat rides on the lake back in the 50's with my cousins and Uncle John Honeywell who worked at Hanson's park. I still cruise the lake with my sister everytime I am in Penna and eat at the Grotto.

what a great website.I spent my entire summers from about age 8 to 16, camping with friends at Ben Roods campground at Sandy Beach. We fished, swam, rode bikes around the lake and enjoyed the drive-in movies from the hill next to the Martha Wash. Later,my kids learned to water-ski there. We launched at Mayers grove . Still return on occasion to have pizza at the grotto. What a great place!

Our family had several homes at the lake over the years from 1931 thru the 1980's. The last one's at pole 285 and 286. My father made his own water ski's and was the first one to ski on the lake behind my grandfathers 30's Barrel Back Chris Craft. I still have both pairs of his home made 8 foot long water ski's that he built in our lumber mill in Plains, Grosek and Sons Consturction. I grew up spending summers at the lake and learned to ski in 1959 at 8 yrs old on those huge ski's. What great times we had!

I grew up coming to Harvey's lake for a week once a year when I was young. My brother and I went to Hanson's park and even to the dances. We saw Gary US Bond and Chubby Checkers there. It was so great. Really miss it and wish the park was back. I have relatives who live close to the lake and at least once a year my family and I will take a ride around it.

I would like to contact John Hanson. How can I do this? Or can you contact him and give him my email(I'm fairly new to computers) and/or my phone, 732-895-1296? Thanks very much.

Those were them good old days. Loved spending summers at Sandy Beach, and Hansons. Winters we spent shoveling off the ice to ice skate. What great memories.

Thank you for this great site, good work. I was fortunate enough to spend every summer of my youth at the lake. I have so many fond memories of Hanson's, Sandy beach...fishing, swimming..the benches at the Sandy Beach drive-in. Ben Rood's cabins. My first dance at the Sandy Beach Pavilion to Eddy Day and the Night Timers. I have been gone for 30 years now, and I know the lake is not what it was in years past. Thanks for capturing this wonderful memories for us.
