The Picnic Grounds
The Lehigh Valley Railroad built a spacious
picnic ground on the north shore of the lake near what is now Hanson's
Park. The grounds were served by steamboats and had a popular swimming
area.

Hanson's Amusement Park
In 1935 the Picnic Grounds transitioned to Hanson's Amusement Park, which operated until 1984. Speedboats, a fast rollercoaster, carousel and miniature train were some of the major attractions.

Sunset Beach
Near the inlet, the Sunset area was
the first to be developed for the tourist trade. It was the location
of the lake's first hotel and later its most majestic, the Hotel Oneonta.

Sandy Beach
In the west corner, Sandy Beach was
a popular swimming area. Among other celebrities, it hosted Johnny Weissmuller
for a 1931 swimming exhibition.

Mayer's Grove
Between Sandy Beach and Sandy Bottom, the Mayer family operated a popular picnic ground and boat rental facility. It was also the site of an infamous murder.
