The Outlet School and the Lake's Early Schools

The Outlet School is the sole surviving structure of the lumber ghost town of Outlet Mills. It is also the oldest surviving school-room building in Lake Township, located one mile below the outlet of Harvey's Lake at the intersection of Outlet Road and the Lehman-Outlet Road.

The Pennsylvania School System

Originally Pennsylvania public schools were supported by "subscriptions" from parents. Poor families often did not have access to these schools, despite attempts as early as 1790 to make education universal. The passage of the Free School Act in 1834 finally led to universal access to public schools.

WW II Honor Roll at Lake Township High School

Well before the end of World War II in 1945 America dedicated Rolls of Honor to servicemen who had entered the armed forces. These were sponsored by communities, service organizations, religious institutions and business organizations.
