The Hilton sisters, Daisy and Violet, were born in 1908 as siamese twins co-joined at the pelvis. They were talented singers, dancers and musicians - not simply a novelty act.
They appeared at Fern Brook on July 14, 1934. Unfortunately, they had a history of abusive managers and spouses. They eventually relocated to Florida after an unsuccessful movie effort and died in dreadful circumstances in 1969.
Despite strong dance band attractions during the 1930's it was the Depression Era. Entertainment dollars were scarce for most families. The Lake trolley service, which linked the Valley to Fern Brook, was also shrinking. The trolley from Dallas to the Lake ended in 1931, substituted by bus service. In April 1939 the trolley from Wilkes-Barre to Dallas would end.next
